Four simple ways to Give Back during the pandemic!
As we watch the news, the Covid-19 pandemic, injustices and warring factions, bad news at every corner, it’s easy to feel hopeless and helpless during this time.
But no matter who you are or what your situation, you can make a difference.
Even if you are quarantined at home, unable to do much physically, there are still many ways to get involved and give back, especially in your local community.
Here are four simple ways to get involved, connect and give back to your community.
1. Start with your own community.
Reach out to the people you know, many are isolated, alone and in much need of human connection. Many can benefit from a friendly text or video call.
It may seem like a small gesture, but don’t underestimate the positive impact of connecting with another human being.
This is literally an act of service.
Do you know someone who needs to self-isolate because of illness, age or medical conditions that make it unsafe for them to be out and about? Call them, email them, text them or use video call them. Hearing a friendly voice and knowing that someone cares can make a big difference at this difficult time.
2. Give what you can spare.
With school closures, and job disruptions many struggling to take care of basic needs and are relying on shelters and food banks heavily.
Beyond monetary contributions, there are lots of ways to support homeless shelters and food banks in your community
Tip: Toiletries such toothpaste, toothbrushes, combs and feminine hygiene products are always in high demand
Food, think shelf-stable proteins, like beans, tuna and peanut butter, never go to waste.

3. Donate
While many people don’t have extra funds right now, if you’re one of the lucky ones who do, consider donating to an organization that’s making a difference during this time. Every little goes a long way.
You can also help your favourite local businesses stay afloat during this time by purchasing gift cards that can be used later, ordering delivery from restaurants that are still open, and shopping from home if they’re still taking orders.
4. Your voice matters.
use it to advocate for the individuals and organizations you care about and who need your help. And, by this we don’t mean engaging in heated political debates online, but rather how to support, spread a positive message and educate others.
Be a voice for how people can help each other in this time of social distancing, while staying safe. As you learn about how people are being affected and what the needs are, share that information—and tell people what you are doing to make a difference. Several non-profit organizations could use your time and money to make sure vulnerable populations are cared for during the pandemic.
STAY SAFE FRIENDS!
